The Tom Hoad Cup IX - International Water Polo Tournament will again be hosted at the picturesque Melville Water Polo Club form December 27-30, 2011.

The Tom Hoad Cup is the most prestigious Water Polo event staged in the Southern Hemisphere and with many of the International and Fremantle players having just returned from the FINA World League Championships - this festival season will see Bicton come alive with World Class Water Polo. This unique event in the Western Australian calendar will provide four fabulous nights of quality competition, colourful crowds, high excitement and passion, all in a cosmopolitan and friendly environment.

This year's teams include 2009 champions the Barbarians, (featuring National Australian players and local upcoming juniors), Partizan Belgrade (2010 Euroleague Champions), Chinese National Team (hosting players that have just competed in The FINA World Swimming Championships), Japanese National Team and the Fremantle Mariners (2011 Australian National League Champions).

Most importantly, The Tom Hoad Cup aims to provide young Western Australians with a world recognised international water polo event, which will enable them to pursue an elite pathway and challenge the best in the world. The development of young athletes is accelerated when they are exposed to, and compete against these incredible athletes. The Tom Hoad Cup allows our best young players to play and complete against Europe's best, enabling them to learn and grow, building on their ability and self confidence.

The Tom Hoad Cup is an acclaimed and internationally recognised tournament but it is only possible through the efforts of our community supporters.
